Before Booking A engagement Shoot - Read This

So it’s time to capture your eternal love for each other, how beautiful. But as you may have noticed, much of the couples/elopement/engagement and wedding photography is a lot of the same. Almost as if all these photographers went through the same school or pinterest moodboards and fostered a similar style. This is not a dig at them, there is a place for this, but what I am interested in is a visionary and creative edge that is fed by a couples spirit and soul.

Alternative weddings are on the rise as more couples embrace their unique style. It seems, generally speaking, we are moving away from the traditional way of celebrating our unions to honour our own personal rituals. This gets me fired up, because I love the process of individuation - that is to say, seeing people becoming and expressing their authentic and whole nature. And so I come to you with a solution to the hive mind approach to capturing one of the most precious things about life - love.

Firstly, let me preface by saying my speciality lies in artistic and editorial photography. I come from a music industry background so a lot my work lies in capturing artists campaigns, press shoots and cover art. I have a passion in sustainable fashion and am cultivating my own style of what I call Elemental Editorial that captures the intersection of humanity, consciousness and nature.

This has put me in touch with the creative and artistic soul, the people who lean into their unique authenticity and individuality unapologetically.

Frankly, I believe the world needs more of that. More people to freely express themselves, to reveal themselves in their highest order, to take up space and be courageous in how they show up. And, what better thing to audaciously share with the world than our love?

When it comes to you and your lover sharing and capturing your undying love, I encourage you to go all out. Dress up, play, embody something divine, be eccentric and creative, be visionary with it. Steer away from the bog standard style of photography and give people that curious shock factor. Your love is special, you are special, so give it the timelessness imagery that captures your timeless spirit and connection.

Now of course, you do need a photographer on the same wave length. If they don’t see the vision, they can’t bring it to life. Because I am the photographer writing about this, I will plug myself here - but first let me emphasise the fact that you need a visual artist on your wavelength. We can absolutely have a call and see if we vibe (contact me here), but follow your intuition on who is right for you, this intuitive thread is your creative pulse. Personally, I seek to capture the divinity in you, in your partner and in your connection. I seek to make something timeless that could be hung on the walls for generations to come. The kind of art your legacy grandchildren talk about to guests as they walk down the halls. The kind of art that has lore, story, something to it that you just can’t quite pin-point.

For context, I am based near Birmingham in the west-midlands, but I travel all over for this. Wether thats across England, the UK or worldwide, I will be there to capture the undying light in you. There is no idea or vision too big or too small for me, I want to dive deep and push the edges of what artistry we can capture.

There is no need to play small in this life, and there is definitely no need to follow the same old ways and path. Lean into yourself, lean into your partner and discover each other in your greatest expression. Be bombacious, audacious and eccentric. Be characterful, unique, different, all the things you naturally are. Be subtle and soft yet impactful if that is your style. Whatever you do, really let yourself be yourself.
